English

The English program is an uninterrupted two hour block each day. 

Students are regularly tested on their reading, spelling and comprehension and the data collected from this testing is used to design the teaching that occurs in the classroom.

St Arnaud Primary School implements a structured Literacy program across all classrooms.

Classroom Teachers and Education Support Staff are trained in Sounds Write reading instruction, which allows instruction in small groups, at student point of need, as well as follow up intervention groups for mulitple exposures to concepts.

Research shows that whole school programs implemented consistently have the best outcomes for students.
